The Bishop's gonna throw his 2 cents in...
First, since none of us is Kirk Franklin, we cannot know why he did what he did. Personally, I think (Bishops Note: I'm using the word "I think" because I don't know so therefore it is opinion) he did it to air it our nationwide and the world over. Why? Think about it this way. Kirk became a major label artist awhile back. He's not an indie artist but a major artist. This means that he's up there with the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, Coldplay. Starting to get the picture? The higher you get on the ladder, the more accountable you are for your actions. That's just by the world's standards. We as Christians are held to an even higher acount and thus are held even more responsible for our actions. You can't mess up as a major artist and admit it on an indie level.
This next point is opinion as well. Why did Brad and Jennifer break up? Because I think Brad had affairs with Angelina Jolie. The evidence speaks for itself and now what? Brad and Angelina are running out kicking it! Nevertheless, Brad and Jennifer got divorced and it was worldwide news! They are major icons so it's a major story. There were newspapers, magazines, and all other types of medium that stated the story and came up with their own thoughts and opinions about what happened.
KIrk, knowing all of this, decided (Bishop's Note: Being a married man, I also know that his wife has a lot to do with it as well.) that it would be best to go on a show that would tell the world what happened. That makes good sense. Why? Because in front of millions of women, he got to tell his side of the story HIS WAY before anyone else could say otherwise. The media can't have a field day in this case because he got on national TV and aired out his dirt. It also makes good business sense. What gender mostly occupies The Oprah Winfrey Show? WOMEN! If record companies that target women and young girls to market their music and put out garbage, how much more of an impact will a man have standing up in front of some of those same women, admitting that he did dirt, repented, and handled it like a man should in doing so? You start to respect him as a person and as a Child of God!!
Lastly, people need to realize that people are just ordinary people. We all do dirt, make mistakes, lie, cheat, steal, bear false witness, lust for things and people, and by nature are greedy. This part is the truth. Just because someone is a Gospel Artist, Minister, Pastor, or whatever doesn't mean that they won't make mistakes and do dirt. It's not what one does that makes them foul...it's what they do about it after it's done. One doensn't become a champion without failing at times. Remember also that God won't let continued dirt happen without some recourse. That recourse, in Kirk's case, was mostly him admitting what he did not just in private, but worldwide as well.
I hope this will help everyone!
Just my gold boullion up in dis peesh!!
