Our prayers go out to those who were directly impacted byHurricane Katrina. Our founder LaShawn Batiste, has also been directly affected as her father, four cousins, aunt, and uncle live in theNew Orleansareas and has not been able to gain contact with any of them. She finally got in contact with her father onst1ate Month="8" Day="31" Year="2005">8/31/05/st1ate> at9:00pm. None of the other family members have been found. As we watch the news channels report this horrible event, we can only pray that those that are alive can seek refuge and safety. The effects of the substandard living conditions are expected to cause sickness and disease to survivors in the area. Sewage floods the water that runs over streets, bridges and highways. Lack of non-perishable food, electricity, shelter and medical supplies are likely to cause several health epidemics to those who remain in the area. Experts anticipate that the millions without power could be in the dark for weeks to months. We ask that you pray for those impacted by the storm and go above your normal level of giving and sow a significant seed to help those in need. May God keep them all in his grace.

Dear God, I pray that you will be close to all of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans and elsewhere. I pray that you save them both physically and spiritually, Lord Jesus. I pray that you will quickly provide them with the help they need, including water and food and shelter, and I pray that you will protect everyone from any potential diseases or any harm that might come because of the harsh living conditions and frustration of local residents. Lord, I pray that you will bring more workers in to help and rescue the people, and I pray that these rescuers will have the courage to come and help out, thinking of others and their desparate needs instead of their own personal costs or time. I pray that you will be Lord of the entire situation, and I pray that your Holy Spirit will deeply impact hearts and that souls in New Orleans and throughout the South and this nation will turn to Jesus Christ more than ever before. I pray that you will hear the cries of your people and even the ones who don't know you yet, and save them. I pray that if possible, these people's homes, neighborhoods, and cities may be rebuilt and restored; but if this is impossible because of damage and disease, etc., I pray that all of these people will be able to find safe places to live and get new jobs and whatever else they might need. I pray blessings over the city of New Orleans, the 9th Ward, Biloxi, and everywhere else, and I believe that you are going to work, and this will be the start of change and of a better future for all of these people.

In the strong and powerful name of Jesus, I pray.
