I had to learn or should I say unlearn, that religion is not the answer to what you need. When the fire seems to be going out you don't need matches. You need the Holy Spirit to fan the flames of what embers may still be burning no matter how dim.
Most people fall away when they allow the devil to speak to them in the area of their emotions. He will try to convince you that you aren't good enough, that you cannot make it, that God doesn't listen to you or know what you are going through and that you are all by yourself.
The truth is that you were known by God before you were formed in the belly of your mother's womb. It doesn't matter how you came to be here, the fact that you are here and that you have been BORN AGAIN is evidence in itself that God had you on His mind. So how do you break the unproductive religious trap that is not providing you with any fulfillment?
The anwer is to get your focus off of your feelings. They will lie to you, even betray you. Get your focus on what matter to God the most, and what He sent Jesus to do for us. Jesus came and after he defeated satan in the wilderness declared, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand". In other words Jesus was saying that He had come to bring the government of God into your life and that in that government, if you would put what matters to God first, making that your first priority, then you would experience God adding to you everything you need to fulfill the purpose that He has called you to.
So, its not too late. The embers that remain can be refired with purpose and a true sense of destiny. Begin to say what God says about you. Tell yourself and tell God that you thank him for choosing you out of 6.5 billion people on the planet, to show up and show Himself strong on your behalf. Tell God that you thank Him that He has made you to be more than a conqueror and that you realize that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Most importantly, tell God whether you feel like it or not, that you are in agreement with God and His plan for your life and that you submit to Him as your sovereign ruler. Tell God that you thank Him for making you a partaker of His divine nature and that you will do what He tells you to do.
Finally, give yourself a praise party. Shout to the Lord with a voice of triumph. In other words do all of the exact opposite, foolish sounding stuff that the devil doesn't want you to dare do. Jump up and shout to the Lord, thank you for meeting my every need and watch God show up in the sweetness of His Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you into all truth and reveal to you things to come. I don't have to know you to believe in you. All I have to know is that you believe in the One who brought you to Himself in the first place. Put God's kindom first, making His kingdom your number one priority and watch God make you His priority.
Jesus did not come to give you religion. He came to bring you into relationship. A relationship that restores to you the dominion Adam lost and gives you an assurance of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. That is the kingdom here and now working in you to produce God's plan and purpose for your life.
